A new school for Yoko Topé

Africa Smile and its French partner Humani’Terre undertook to renovate the rural public school in Yoto Kopé, whose dilapidated condition was not conducive to learning.

The school was then attended by 129 students in three grades (CP, CE, and CM) under difficult conditions.

The classrooms, built by the parents, are open to the outside, with only sheet metal for a roof. One of the rooms even has a thatched roof. Weather conditions impact learning because when it rains, the classrooms flood. Wooden screens surround some of the rooms, but they are not in good condition. Most of them are falling down or broken, which does not help to improve learning conditions.

Launched in 2024, the project aims to build three “solid” classrooms, closed and separate from each other, ensuring that the village’s pupils can continue their education.

With our financial support, the first classroom was built in 2024, the second in 2025, and the third and final classroom is planned for 2026!
