In 2022 and 2023, we participated in the construction of two classrooms for the AMOUSSIMÉ 2 General Education College in Togo (AMEGNONA-KONDJI Village – TOGO), located in a very rural area.
The school was built by parents in 2019 in the form of straw huts. Despite official approval from the ministry, the school’s conditions did not meet the objectives of quality education (cramped and highly flammable huts that leak during the rainy season, badly damaged or non-existent blackboards, insufficient desks, etc.).
The C.I.E.LO association therefore decided to come to the aid of this school in collaboration with a local association: the Association for the Promotion of Rural Areas and Disadvantaged People (APMRPD).
To improve educational conditions for the 108 pupils, in 2021 the association launched a project aimed at:
Building four classrooms equipped with a large blackboard, a desk and chair for each teacher, and double desks to accommodate 40 pupils
Building school latrines
Equip the school with a toy chest containing 25 locally purchased educational games (assembly games, symbolic games, games with simple rules)
Provide 10 sports games for use by the temporary PE teacher to equip the school’s sports field
Donation of 20 simple musical instruments requiring little maintenance (tambourines, tam-tams, flutes, triangles, xylophones, etc.).
The conditions for welcoming pupils have thus greatly improved, enabling more pupils to enrol in the school.
A project of
Huts for classrooms
Before the project, classes take place under fragile and precarious huts
A full concrete building
The school now has a dedicated building that meets government standards.
Brand new classes
Blackboards and double desks allow for 40 pupils per class in optimal conditions.
